CEC Strengthens Cybersecurity Offerings to Protect Iowa and Wisconsin Businesses

Hiawatha, IA (Oct. 10, 2017) – CEC, a nationally recognized systems and technology integrator, is strengthening its focus on cybersecurity through education, events, and strategic partnerships.

Even though more than 4,000 ransomware attacks occur daily, most organizations aren’t prepared for data breaches. As cyber threats continue to increase in frequency and impact, CEC is focused on helping its customers understand and protect against these attacks – which affect not only IT networks, but also many other systems, devices, and technology that connect to the network.

To help prepare businesses for future security challenges, CEC has formed a new partnership with full-service information security and privacy firm ProCircular, based in Coralville, IA. This partnership will help organizations of all kinds reduce risk, train staff, maintain compliance, protect data, and establish incident response plans.

The upcoming Business Technology Conference, hosted by CEC and scheduled for Oct. 17 in Coralville, also focuses on cyber risk and information security, with keynote Eric O’Neill sharing his real-life spy experiences as a former FBI counterterrorism and counterintelligence operative, explaining how careful diligence and counterespionage techniques can help protect businesses. Attendees will also get a glimpse at the resources available to today’s cybercriminals, while a panel of experts from CEC, ProCircular, and TrueNorth discuss IT risks and strategies for preparedness and response.

To keep businesses up to date on ransomware and other potential attacks, in cooperation with partners Unitrends and Sophos, CEC also offered free education and tools to local technology decision-makers this year to help them survive the constant barrage of attacks they face.

“CEC is thorough in the selection of information security partners,” says Jim Anderson, IT general manager at CEC. “They all bring diverse strengths and in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity to the table, helping our clients do all they can to fight back against constant network and data risks.”
