Project Profile

Iowa
Client: Iowa School District
Solution: Fire & Security - Inspection Services

Until each and every fire alarm device was inspected, this district wasn’t allowed to let students enter its school buildings. They needed efficient, complete inspection of 4,500+ devices and proper documentation of all inspection efforts.

Customer Needs

This school district was looking for a trusted source for fire alarm inspections. Until each and every fire alarm device was inspected, the district wasn’t allowed to let students enter its school buildings. The district needed CEC to:

  • Create an extremely efficient plan in order to inspect 11 buildings and 4,500 devices in just one week.
  • Spend 400+ hours inspecting every fire alarm device for code purposes so that students could start the school year on time.
  • Provide proper documentation of all inspection efforts.

Solution

In seven days, seven CEC technicians spent 400+ hours evaluating and inspecting 11 school buildings that contained a total of 4,500 fire alarm devices.  When the inspections were complete, this customer had:

  • A school that was deemed safe for students to enter.
  • Documentation that proved inspection by certified EST technicians.
  • Assurance that its 4,500 fire alarm devices were up-to-date and would serve their purpose in case of a fire emergency.

Background

This customer is one of Iowa’s 10 largest school districts; enrollment is approximately 10,300. The district operates a total of 20 school buildings.
