Former FBI counterterrorism and counterintelligence operative Eric O’Neill will serve as the keynote.

Eric O’Neill, an American former FBI counterterrorism and counterintelligence operative who helped bring down American master spy Robert Hanssen, is this year’s keynote. O’Neill’s session, “Security in the Age of Espionage,” will rely on real-life spy stories to show how careful diligence, counter espionage techniques, and restraint in social media can help identify the numerous spies, hackers, hacktivists, and trusted insiders that threaten organizations of all types and sizes.

Eric O’Neill has worked as an FBI counterterrorism and counterintelligence operative, a national security attorney, and a corporate security consultant. In February 2001, Eric helped capture the most notorious spy in United States history: Robert Phillip Hanssen. O’Neill was selected to work with this spy in the newly minted information assurance division, which was created to protect all classified FBI intelligence. While undercover, O’Neill’s investigative skills led to Hanssen’s arrest and ultimate conviction.
