Taking Technology to New Levels: Meet Mike Hauser

Oct. 13, 2020

If you’re looking for someone who knows two-way radio systems, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone with more experience than Mike Hauser.

He started his CEC career in 1997 as the RF service manager, bringing with him more than 13 years of experience in RF and Motorola technology. Over the years, he’s taken our two-way communications team to new levels, helping implement new technology and getting customers outfitted with the solutions they need.

Now he’s using that expertise in a new role, working with electrical contractors who need help streamlining their projects.

Meet CEC Construction Market Sales Executive Mike Hauser!

Q: Explain the different roles you’ve held at CEC since you first joined the team.
A: I started out as the RF service manager. I then served as the project manager for our Davenport office, planning and organizing projects for more than six years. I missed my days of dealing with two-way radios, though, so I transitioned into an RF sales role. For nearly 14 years, I got to help educate customers on the value of two-way radios.

From there, based on my decades of experience, I became the radio group general manager, a role I held for nearly five years to help CEC provide Motorola solutions to manufacturing, public safety, education, and gaming customers.

Most recently, I was named the construction market sales executive for the Davenport office. Every time I move into a new role, I learn something new … so I’ve learned a lot over my 20+ years!

Q: What makes you most excited about working at CEC?
A: I enjoy working with people who are as passionate about new technology as I am, whether it’s AV, two-way communications, or fire alarm systems.

Q: What do you enjoy most about what you’re doing right now?
A: I enjoy the customer relationships that naturally develop when you help someone overcome a problem with the use of technology. In every role I’ve held, I’ve gotten to enjoy this type of relationship building.

Q: Is there a CEC initiative you’ve been involved with that you’re especially proud of?
A: Helping grow and develop the RF team over the past few decades. This offering is a niche for CEC – and what our company was founded on back in 1946. We know two-way radios well and have helped many organizations successfully implement two-way radios to improve safety and communication.

Q: How does a typical day play out for you at CEC? What are you responsible for in your new role?
A: My new role involves meeting with various electrical contractors and showing them the value of partnering with CEC – from our training and certification to our dedicated project management team.

Q: What’s a fun/interesting fact about you that most people don’t know?
A: I’m an adrenaline junkie. I drag race Harley-Davidson motorcycles, deer hunt, and have been studying martial arts for 34 years.

Q: How do you spend your free time?
A: Free time? What’s that? See previous answer.

Q: If you could do one other job at CEC for a day, what would it be?
A: A tower climber, but I’m getting too old for that now.
